Peer Review Process

Submitted manuscripts are usually reviewed by two or more experts. Peer reviewers will be asked to recommend whether a manuscript should be accepted, revised or rejected. They should also alert the editors of any issues relating to author misconduct such as plagiarism and unethical behavior.
Iranian Journal of Health, Safety and Environment operates using a closed peer review system.
Publication of research articles by Iranian Journal of Health, Safety and Environment is dependent primarily on their validity and coherence, as judged by peer reviewers and editors. The reviewers may also be asked whether the writing is comprehensible and how interesting they consider the article to be. Submitted manuscripts will be sent to peer reviewers, unless they are out of scope or below the interest threshold of Iranian Journal of Health, Safety and Environment, or if the presentation or written English is of an unacceptably low standard.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access and free of charge to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
In deed, the journal doesn't have any submission and article processing charges ( APCs).
Policy for Journals That Offer Opn Access

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

a.Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

b.Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.

c.Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Ethical issues

Ethical Guidelines for Iranian Journal of Health, Safety and Environment
This is a guideline for IJHSE. This journal is a peer- reviewed journal therefore it is essential that all editors, reviewers and authors follow the job with the highest standard of professional ethics.
IJHSE take its duties in overall steps of publishing process and we understand our responsibilities for publishing process and also ethical issues.
Duties of Editors and Editor in chief
• Acknowledge receipt of submitted manuscripts within 3 working days and ensure a timely review process.
• Publication decision: editor in chief has the right to make the final decision on a manuscript that can be accepted or rejected according to the significance, originality, novelty, clarity and relevance to the IJHSE of a manuscript.
• Fair play: an editor or editor in chief evaluate a manuscript on the basis of their academic and content merit without regard to race, gender, religious belief, nationality, ethnic origin, or political philosophy of the authors.
• Confidentiality: editor, editorial boards and other IJHSE staff do not allow disclosing any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than corresponding author or authors, reviewers or potential reviewers, editorial advisers and publisher. It is clearly after publishing a paper, its contents is not confidential.
• Disclosure: editors should not disclose the name of reviewers or editorial boards related to decision about a manuscript.
• Conflicts of interest: editors should not process a manuscript if he or she has any conflict of interest with any authors or an institution related to it’s without permission.
• Involvement and cooperation in investigations: editor in chief takes reasonably responsive contacting to author of a manuscript about claims, and also any relevant institutions and research bodies, when an ethical complaint has been announced to journal. All reported act of unethical publishing behavior have to look into, even if it is found years after publication.
Duties of Reviewers
• Contribution to Editorial Decision: peer reviewer helps the editor and editorial board to decide about a submitted manuscript and also help to authors to improve their manuscript.
• Promptness: the selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review a submitted manuscript or certifies that he or she cannot meet the deadline for completion of the review should immediately notify the editor and excuse him or herself from the process of reviewing this manuscript.
• Disclosure and Confidentiality: The reviewer should not disclose or explain about a manuscript that he or she reviewed with anyone except as authorized people by the editor. The reviewer cannot use any part, section, figures or table and etc. reported in submitted manuscript and as unpublished manuscript.
• Standards of Objectivity: The reviewer must approach the peer review manuscript objectively; personal criticism of the manuscript or author is not acceptable.
• Acknowledgement of Source: the reviewer should notify the editor of any similarities between the manuscript under his or her review and another paper either published or under consideration by another journal without citation by the authors. A reviewer should also contact to editor about any substantial similarity between the manuscript under consideration which contain plagiarized material or falsified data
• Conflicts of Interest: The reviewer must not review any manuscript if he or she has any conflict of interest and should inform editor without any extra comments and also a reviewer should recuse himself or herself to review any manuscript authored or co-authored by a person that he or she has any relation that effect to his or her review.
Duties of Authors
• Reporting standards: Authors should submit or report accurate original research. A manuscript has to contain accurate and enough detail and references to do the same work with others. Insufficient and inaccurate manuscript is unacceptable.
• Data Access and Retention: editor or reviewer maybe ask that authors provide the raw data of submitted manuscript and should be prepared to provide public access to those data.
• Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must be ensure that submitted manuscript is come from an original work and if authors have used the work and sentences of other authors they should be ensure that they used appropriately cited or quoted. Authors have to be sure that their manuscript is not involved with any types of plagiarism. All types of plagiarism are unethical publishing behavior and are not acceptable.
• Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication: Authors must not publish manuscripts that describing essentially the same research in more than one journal. The manuscript should not be submitted to another journal before make decision by the first journal.
• Acknowledgement of Sources: The author should have thanked all the people or institution who contributed to submitted manuscript or research in form of any types of support. Those who have contributed effectively in the preparation of manuscript or research paper should be listed as co-author.
• Authorship of the Paper: authors only included people who made research ideas, research design, sample and data gathering and made analysis and interpretation of the investigation. Corresponding author should be sure that all effective contributors listed in manuscript as co-authors. Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects: Authors must adhere to ethical research on humans and animals samples through research and writing manuscript and he or she is responsible to take the necessary permission in case of ethical issues.
• Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: All authors have to enclose any financial effective relation that can or may effect on results interpretation of their research or manuscript. Any type of support or financial support that may affect on results or conclusion must be declared in manuscript.
• Fundamental errors in published works: If an author realized that a significant error or inaccuracy in his published article must contact to editor or publisher immediately and cooperated with the editor or publisher to do correction on the paper. It is author obligation. If the editor or the publisher knows from others that a published paper contains an effective error, the author must provide evidence to editor or publisher and correct the paper. It is author’s obligation.
